Senate Joint Resolution 14 (SJR14) is a proposed amendment to the NV constitution which could be the largest property tax increase in Nevada’s history. It passed through the Legislature in 2017. If it passes in 2019, it will go on the 2020 ballet and Nevada voters will decide its fate.
If SJR14 becomes Nevada law, property taxes will be based on the sale price of the property. The existing cap on property taxes will be removed, as will allowances for depreciation. Mike Clark has been the Washoe County Assessor, so he is intimately knowledgeable of existing property tax law and its implementation. His recent re-election implies he also will have to implement the provisions of SJR14 if they become law. Come and listen to Mike’s concerns about SJR14 and learn about their potential impact on you and other Nevadans. Mike will happily answer questions, so come prepared with your questions.
