Speaker: Joshua Thompson

Joshua Thompson is the Director of Equality and Opportunity Litigation at Pacific Legal Foundation, where he fights to dismantle unconstitutional barriers to opportunity, freeing individuals to rise based on their choices, character, and ability. He joined PLF as an attorney in 2007 and has litigated in all of PLF’s practice areas. Joshua argued PLF’s 13th case before the United States Supreme Court, Cedar Point Nursery v. Hassid, where the court ruled that a California regulation that allowed union organizers onto private property violated the Fifth Amendment’s Takings Clause.

Topic

With over 50 cases in its Equality and Opportunity Program nationwide, and countless national and state victories, Pacific Legal Foundation is the nation’s leading litigator for a new civil rights era – where individuals are treated equally and their economic liberty is secure.  In particular, PLF’s Equality and Opportunity program ensures equality before the law by challenging government programs that treat individuals differently on the basis of race or sex.  At the same time, PLF’s litigation tears down economic barriers to allow individuals, businesses, and entrepreneurs to flourish free from irrational and discriminatory regulation.  As PLF’s Director of Equality and Opportunity Litigation, Joshua Thompson will speak about PLF’s cases and strategy to enforce these rights guaranteed by the Fourteenth Amendment.
