The Nevada Policy Research Institute (NPRI) applies free market ideas to Nevada’s problems. NPRI President John Tsarpalas and Senior Policy Analyst Daniel Honchariw will explain NPRI’s approach, dicussing a variety of state and local issues, including Tesla subsidies. They will also offer a call to action.
John Tsarpalas is the President of the Nevada Policy Research Institute (NPRI). He is deeply committed to spreading limited government ideas and promoting associated policies. For over three decades, John has educated others in the ideals and benefits of limited government. In the 1980s, John joined the Illinois Libertarian Party and served on its State Central Committee. Later in the 90s, he transitioned to the Republican Party, and became active in the Steve Forbes for President Campaign and flat taxes. John managed or consulted many Republican candidates, election campaigns and organizations from 1996 – 2005. In 2005, he was recruited to become the Executive Director of the Illinois Republican Party. Additionally, John has served as President of the Sam Adams Alliance and Team Sam where he did issue education and advocacy work in over 10 states, with a focus on the web. John also founded or helped start numerous educational not-for-profits, including Think Freely Media, the Haym Salomon Center – where he served as Chairman, the Franklin Center for Government & Public Integrity and Midwest Speaking Professionals.
Daniel Honchariw a Senior Policy Analyst with NPRI. He focuses on fiscal issues and education issues, especially school choice. He has published extensively on the abuses of civil asset forfeiture, with work featured in or cited by USA Today, The New Yorker, Reason, the Las Vegas Review-Journal, and the Reno Gazette-Journal. Daniel’s experience includes stints with the National Labor Relations Board, multiple financial services firms, and a Tahoe-based ski resort. He is a sports fanatic, political junkie, and chess enthusiast. He holds a B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University and an M.P.A. in Public Management from California State University, Dominguez Hills.
